Beer in a can was first introduced in 1935. Its popularity exploded when
U.S brewers shipped millions of cans to soldiers overseas during World War
2. After the war, U.S. brewing companies took advantage of mass distribution
possible by the use of cans, thus contributing to the consolidation of
national companies over local breweries who once dominated regional beer
