|American Apparel is a proud supporter of the arts and "making things" in Los Angeles. We are honored to collaborate with the Hammer Museum and Channa Horwitz on this exclusive scarf, available in American Apparel stores and at the Hammer Museum for the duration of Made in LA 2012 (June 2-Sept 2, 2012)
Channa Horwitz is a Los Angeles-born artist whose geometric abstract drawings and paintings are on display as part of Made in L.A. 2012. Seeking to capture time and motion, she dubbed her series of drawings, initiated in the 1960s, Sonakinatography—reflecting her commitment to sona (sound) and kina (movement). Horwitz lays down many of her drawings on graph paper, rendering lines and squares in deep black or various colors to create deliriously intricate patterns—generating a sense of awe about the great mysteries of life and the inevitable entwining of chance and structure.
